Princess A's Menu

It is so hard to know how much to feed the little darlings and how much they should have. I definitely am not sure but am sticking to the rule if they close their mouth and turn away they have had enough.

One girl in my mothers group mentioned anything up to a cup was good.

So what does Princess A eat and when

6am
Bottle (about 200-250 ml) - sometimes if she wakes at 530 she has it then

8am
Breakfast
This is normally some kind of cereal (quinoa, barley, oats or millet), with a grated pear / apple (whatever is looking ripe and yummy), and a little full cream organic yogurt (plain - no added anything)

1030am
Snack
I normally give her a little bottle of formula, or water, a rusk and perhaps a little banana.
We don't always have this snack, sometimes if she sleeps long (till after 11) i normally offer water and a rusk and combine a bottle of milk with lunchtime

1230 pm
Lunch
It varies
Chicken / sweet potato (or pumpkin , carrot ) and maybe a touch of beetroot / broccoli
Beef with the same as above
Cottage cheese with some of the above

330 - 430
snack
somewhere in there Princess A sometimes needs a snack, options are
Carrot sticks (steamed till really soft)
Broccoli (steamed till really soft)
Cottage cheese
rusks
some wholemeal bread

630pm
dinner
normally i try to keep the dinner pretty neutral and make sure that she doesn't have anything new before going to bed.
Rice & Pumpkin
Barley & Carrot
pretty much a cereal and any vegetable combo

Last week I tried cooked egg yolk for the first time - she really liked it. this will be a new staple to add to the diet.

It may seem rather foolish, and perhaps like a lot of work, but there is something quite rewarding about making fresh food for your baby.

I have a confession to make, Princess A is minded a lot by her Grandparents, and Omi is particularly terrific at making fresh food for her, so pretty much most of the current food stock has been made by my mum - i think she really deserves the title of the original "domestic goddess"

I have tried a few packaged foods, Rafferty's garden so far seems to be the winner in our home.
